In one of our presentations on social media, one of the participants asked a good question. During a meeting or presentation is it appropriate to be texting, etc? Hmmm.
For me, from the presentor standpoint it doesn't bother me. It's my responsibility to engage, entertain and inform the audience. One gentleman during the presentation was texting on and off. I made sure to make enough eye contact with him and I had the sense he was paying attention. Turns out he was typing notes to himself about various websites and resources I was mentioning. I think if I caught someone engaged a little too much into his/her phone I would walk towards that person and kind of "camp out" while presenting. i tend to walk around anyway so this isn't out of the ordinary. And I never hesitate to ask questions to specific individuals. That keeps the audience on their toes.
There are also times where texting is not appropriate. Executive board meetings, new business presentations and personal consulting appointments just to name a few.
As a prestor/moderator you have the option at the beginning of the meeting/presentation to tell the audience to turn off their cells.
What are your thoughts on this practice?
Do you know your audience? Two ads, same product. Which one will sell?

Just playing around with and evaluating a couple crm systems for my use. I've used them in various companies more for marketing campaign managment and ROI tracking, and have understood how the sales side of things works, but now I REALLY get it. Everything ties together. EVERYTHING.
It can truly be a powerful tool if it's used by everyone. This is a great way for forecasting ahead and to manage each and every relationship. That's the real key. Understanding who you're talking to and managing that data. Plugging in everything. I know it's a pain at first, but once you get through cleaning your data and really using it, you'll see the value.
What CRM systems are you utilizing and to what extent are the effective?
